Heikki Lahti (b.1934) from the town of Suolahti is the icon of the Finnish mandolin playing tradition. Lahti started playing mandolin at the age of five. His grandfather, father and brothers were also musically active. By profession Lahti was a teacher of Plate-welding. Heikki Lahti is a three time Finnish Champion of Mandolin playing and is also well known as an inspiring teacher of the tradition.
